Arizona State Parks and Trails is hiring a Planner 2 (on-call Archaeological Technician). This job opportunity is located in Phoenix, Arizona.

Summary of duties

This position is a part-time, on-call, Archaeological Technician position reporting to the Cultural Resources Manager. This position will assist the Cultural Resources Manager in facilitating cultural activities. Duties include, but are not limited to: archaeological monitoring, pedestrian survey and preliminary damage assessments at the state parks throughout the state. Technicians will also assist with report preparation following fieldwork. This position is allotted to work up to 40 hours a week, up to a total of 1500 hours in a calendar year.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or closely related field plus (1) at least one year of professional experience or equivalent specialized training in archaeological fieldwork.
  • Master’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or closely related field.
  • 3-5 years experience in field archaeology, historic preservation, historic sites/parks, cultural resource management, historic preservation, and preservation law.
